Throg, scourge, biomech, call them what you will, but they are the greatest currently threat to the Galaxy.

History

The scourge were first reported in the early part of the 7th century AGS. Unbeknownst to mankind they had quietly invaded the galaxy through wormholes. At the time most were distracted by conflicts with the clans, they didn't notice strange new alien beings luring mechs off from either side and butchering them. During the year 607 a force lead by Chancellor Snook was sent to investigate this strange new threat. The expedition fleet vanished, but so did all signs of these new beings, which were simply known as Bio-mechs.

Nineteen years later, they re-emerged, brought their full force upon the galaxy. It was then they earned the name Scourge. Over the course of that year the Ecyplse mechs were unveiled, creations using reverse engineered Throg technology. The divided humanity united against this common foe, and the Throg were driven back, until the missing Chancellor Snook made himself known as T'leth Snook of the Throg. Negotiations were called by T'leth. He demanded the total surrender of Eclypse mechs and the facility that created them. The faction responsible for their creation, the Templars was missing from the peace discussions, and while that was going on, an unknown fleet made an assassination attempt on T'leth, plunging the whole talks into disarray and throwing the galaxy back into war. For now, the galaxy is at war.

Biology

The original form of the Throg is not known. They are a parasitic race that survives by infecting other things and assuming their forms and gaining abilities that roughly mimic their new form. They are able to infect technology and bring it under control. They've adapted numerous alien technologies before coming to this galaxy.

Scourge war machines are known as Bio-Mechs. It is unclear if they are autonomous or piloted by special pilots. Bio-mechs come in two distinct styles: infected human technology, and war beasts. Infected technology appears much like the host mech, but with meaty throbby tendrils poking out of various places. The infection alters the energy source of the mech, turning away from AFC technology to some sort of strange force generation technology. Unlike regular meat, whatever fills biomechs is hardy, can handle the vacuum of space, and can regenerate itself at speeds far greater then any life form known to humanity previously. Bio-mechs even regenerate damage to metals, leaving speculation that there's some sort of nano-technology reassembling parts constantly. War beast style mechs look more like oversized creatures then mech, claw, flesh, despite the lack of apparent metal, warbeasts are hardy enough to take a hit from anti-mech weaponry, and are quite capable of the bizarre bio-mech regeneration.

The true nature of the biomechs that do not look like any known mechs is not certain. It's speculated that they are subverted technology and forms from previous races the Throg Conquered. It's speculated with time, subverted technology takes on a mroe natural appearance as the infecting agent better adapts and melds with the technology it's merged with.

The Throg have demonstrated cunning and high intellegence. And they've demonstrated an ability to communicate through T'lek Snook of Throg. T'lek also shows they've a capability of infecting individuals as well as mech.

Motives

The Throg have shared little of their motives through words. Their actions speak of conquerors who seek to consume all that the galaxy has to offer. Their early actions in the galaxy were to slowly subdue and infect a variety of human mech designs. Build a small army, and making a few testing strikes. When that drew out a response fleet, they captured it and withdrew back to their realm, beyond the wormholes, only to reappear later with a stronger force and attempt a full out assault until they were genuinely threatened. Only then did they attempt parlay.

Technology

Scourge technology is advanced. They are capable of generating a unique energy force that keeps their biological components alive, supplies enough power to fuel their regenerative abilities. Some of this power seems to originate from the biomass itself. Though some Throg units have been spotted with glowing power nodes as well. Bio-force has been a common name used for this power, coined by mech pilots who faced bio-mechs. In scientific circles It's known as the Regis Effect, named after Dr. David Regis who has performed a lot of research into the subject. In fact, conspiracy circles claim the new Eclypse mechs make use of the same force at their core.
