History

The Scarab was designed to be a light weight mech, with a heavy weight payload, during clan wars when every ounce of drop weight counted. It leans away from standard bipedal mech frames and instead goes for a quadrapedal low-profile build with the main chassis aligned with the ground instead of perpendicular to it. This allows for it to handle the spine mounted Sorta Big Fracking Gun. With the recoil redirected along the spine of the mech which allows the force of the blast to dissipate. Much of this mech is built around the SBFG with most of its other armaments being auxiliary. While its low armor, as a light mech, certainly makes it easier to destory then its heavier counterparts, the SBFG makes this a threat well beyond its weight class.

Description

Scarab is a quadrupedal walker that boasts a low profile. For a light mech, Scarab has slightly higher then average armor and loadpoints while preserving a decent, but not exceptional, speed.

Other Notes

Fang Laser's performance is sub-par. The only advantage of the Fang Laser is instant-hit. Replacing it and focusing on projectile weapons lets you focus on the complimenting the SBFG ,which is the real star of the show with this mech. The heavy hitting gun throws out respectable damage on a fair speed projectile with very good range.

Default textures don't recolor as nicely as on some mechs, so you may wish to swap to a fainter texture when doing a re-color for Scarab.
