The scarab is a quadrapedal light mech with the fearsome SBFG.
History
The Scarab was designed to be a light weight mech with a heavy weight payload during the clan wars when every ounce of drop weight counted in some engagements. It leans away from standard bipedal mech frames and instead goes for a quadrapedal low-profile build with the main chassis aligned along the ground instead of perpendicular to it. This allows for it to handle the spine mounted SBFG, the recoil's redirected along the spine of mech in this layout which allows the force of the blast to dissipate. In fact most of the mech is built around the SBFG with msot of its other armaments being auxillery to it. While it's lower armor as a light mech certainly makes it easier to bust then it's heavier counterparts, the SBFG leaves it most pilots taking this mech pretty seriously.
Description
Scarab crawls low on four legs. It has two projectile weapons: Scarab Lasers and the SBFG. It has a stomach mounted Fang Laser. For a light mech, it's got slightly higher then average armor and loadpoints while preserving a decent, but not exceptional, speed.
Other Notes
Fang Laser's performance is sub-par. The only thing it has going for it is it is a laser and therefore instant-hit. Replacing it and focusing on projectile weapons lets you focus on the complimenting the SBFG which is the real star of the show with this mech. The heavy hitting gun throws out pretty decent DPS on a fair speed projectile with very good range.
Default textures don't recolor as nicely as some mechs, so you may wish to swap to a fainter texture when doing a re-color job on this mech.
