Since the dawn of Civilization, Mankind has created tools, machines and systems in order to solve problems and achieve goals. The human species' use of technology began with the conversion of natural resources into simple tools. The prehistorical discovery of the ability to control fire increased the available sources of food and the invention of the wheel helped humans in traveling in and controlling their environment. Most recent technology includes interstellar travel, artificial intelligence and nanotechnology.

However not all technology has been used for peaceful purposes. Around 250 BGS the engineers of Terran Hegemony pioneered the creation of the first industrial and battlemechs including the development of massive fleets of jumpships and warships. The Hegemony eventually dominated Inner Sphere politics, and did so for 400 years. It was impetus by the Terran Hegemony that lead to the formation of the Star League and mankind's "Golden Age".

Conventional mecha use an Anti-Matter driven power core known as an AFC core or drive. Through the containment and slow consumption of a minute amount of anti-matter a mech can have near limitless energy available. Instead, mecha need to worry about heat management. While near limitless energy is available, transferring it to the weapons and to the engines and other internal devices in the mech generates heat. As weaponry sees more use it tends to over-strain the heat dissipation systems of the mecha. Since an AFC does function well in high heat, when a mech exceeds certain levels of heat, the system shuts itself off until the mech has cooled down to acceptable levels. An overheated AFC core tends to breach containment, and raw antimatter reacts violently with ambient matter to create an explosion. Fortunately the amounts of Antimatter stored in a mech are not enough generally to cause truly catastrophic explosions, but it's more then enough to destroy the mech in question.

Conventional mecha are a centuries old tried and true technology that has been over time adapted to fill nearly every role possible on the field. If there is a preferred style of piloting, there's a tech-driven mech that suits that style.

Tech Mechs have all around good damage output and armor with multiple optional components and specialized mechs.
