Ant clusters missiles are a fire and forget missile system for the Fire Ant.

History

The fire Ant has a fair amount of weight fore with its legs set towards the center. It needed a counterweight towards the aft, the abdomen section if you were to name it according to the layout of an insect. Pintek Industries saw fit to use that section to give the Ant an additional armament, Ant Clusters. Like most cluster missiles, these fire straight up, search for a target, and then attempt to connect. They have an orangish trail though unlike the purplish glow of conventional clusters. These weapons have gotten a recent upgrade by BTI. Clusters can be a bit slow in travel, though accurate. It will force most mechs to either run, or take damage.

Use

The clusters are a fire and forget missile system. When armed and fired a barrage of missiles is sent directly upwards of your current view. At the apex of their flight they shall arm and go into a roaming pattern. Once the missiles lock on to a mech signature they shall fly towards it and attempt to detonate.

Other Notes

Like all clusters the ant cluster missiles are low speed high accuracy. They are the easiest to outrun missile but the most likely to impact if ignored. Against an overheated mech they are a sure fire hit, however their DPS is low, so it's more economical to just train a sustained barrage with the Ant cannon instead.

Like all seeking missiles, it's possible to shoot these munitions out of the air. This is most easily done with a rapid fire weapon, like the autocannon.
