The Assault laser is a piece of hardware that pushes laser use as far as it will go.

History

Ever since Albert Einstein proposed the theoretical existance of the laser, mankind has pushed it further and further. It was only a matter of time before it was weaponized, and it was only a matter of time before it was weaponized to such a size so as to be used on a mech. No weapon strikes faster then a laser, the beam of high-energy photons travel at the speed of light slashing through armor and actuators. Lasers are popular on mechs whose pilots prefer precision and speed. The cost is high though, the weaponry tends to generate a great deal of heat and has a rather large footprint in the mech's systems and subsystems.

The mammoth laser is a high power double beam. It scores one hit regardless of if one or both beams hit, but the secondary beam gives it a larger profile. The weapon is omnimount and handles largely like an Assault Laser with a broader beam profile.

Use

No weapon is easier to use then a laser. Point and click, no leading the shots, no worrying about splash.

Other Notes

Lasers run hot, lasers take a lot of mech resources. Make sure your mech can handle it before loading up with lasers. Lasers have a comparitively low DPS. Lasers are all about making all your shots count. If you aren't pulling the trigger as often as you possibly can with your weapon kits, then a laser perhaps will allow you to maximize on the damage of the few shots you fire by making sure they hit. If you are firing as often as you can and consistently hitting, then perhaps a laser isn't for you.
