The Vars Series cannons are an especially designed fully automatic ballistic weaponry in use specifically for the Sentinel Heavy Tank 'Mech.
Loaded with High-Velocity rounds, upon exiting the barrel the sheer speed of the slug diffuses the gravitational force of drop, allowing the
cannons to have considerable effective range approximating a 700m effective range during combat.

Under stock configuration the VARS cannons have an ammo complement of 600 rounds. firing two rounds per trigger pull at normal operation optimally
offering 300 individual shots per magazine.

Veteran Notes

Beginner greenhorn pilots of the sentinel will find that the VARS cannons
are quite versatile as both long and medium range line of sight weapons.
offering both aggressive and defensive tactical possibility.

the long range capability of the vars bullets can strike first for
long-range enguagement even so much as to be able to intercept several kinds
of Missile type projectiles out of the air due to its high fire rate.

Additionaly to this effect the high ammo capacity can lay down several sheets
of blanketing suppression fire to prevent enemy movement and in some cases
cause fleeing 'Mechs to trip or fall down when exposed.

this is not to say the VARS cannons are the end all be all of weapons,
the extreme short range is the VARS failing, once inside the reach of
the barrels meele mechs are at full liberty to cause extreme damage,
as the length of the barrels prevent any real use of short range combat.
