History
With a lot of heat weapons, the fire ant needed something to deal some damage. The Ant Cannon is just that, a pair of heavy gauge rapid fire cannons. The unique mass driver technology behind the weapons give the firing sound a distinct "pew" noise, leading some pilots to call them pew pew guns. However, the Ant Cannons fire solid shell armor piercing slots as their projectiles. The distinctive blue glow comes from the Copper (I) Chloride tracer rounds that leave a blue glowing trail as they streak to their targets. Sustained fire from these guns can chew up armor plate pretty fast. If the pilot played his or her cards right with the flame weaponry, the target will sit still enough to maintain that sustained barrage.
