"We will darken the skies with our arrows!"
The Sentinel Heavy Tank 'Mech is considered "The Pope of pew pew", "The Duke of Dakka-Dakka", and the "Sheriff of shoot-outs" of any "stock load" 'Mech with its custom built Vars Cannon 2 armaments, and Sentinel Shield this particular 'Mech is as stubborn as they come. foregoing traditional tank caterpillar tread for an actuated tread leg combination, this 'Mech has speed on its side for rapid deployment as a swift attacker and sturdy defensive turret 'Mech.
Up-scaled From a Marksman MK.IV tank. the natural leniency to symmetrically weighted gear forced the sentinel's manufacturers to develop a weapons platform that "in-a-pinch" could pull double duty as a anti-aircraft, and anti-assault class platform. this in turn gave way to the development to the unique feature of the sentenal, "The lock-down system" the LDS-01 included with every sentinel, super charges the coolant pumps and mechanical drivers within the VARS Cannons, by re directing all drive shaft power from the mobility systems in the tread legs, in to the mechanical drives of the gun's reciever.
As to date no currently known stock load out has surpassed the sentinel's ability to pour out bullets with the same accuracy or rate of fire.
Lock-down
When a pilot engages lock-down mode with the crouch command, the Sentinel will lock in to place shooting the four piston spikes to the ground, anchoring it in to place, and diverting the main engine's surplus of torque and RPM, and increased alternator output in to speeding up the coolant system and Vars cannon ammunition receivers. in addition to super charging the vars cannons speed the additional electricity is shunted into a ammunition energizer, which in turn super heats the actual bullet turning it a bright red in color to increase damage capability, additionally the the sentinel shield will deploy, the ionic field that surrounds the 'Mech on activation has been measured strong enough to reduce the velocity of incoming bullets, disperse laser beams and buffer explosive munitions by virtue of ionic stabilization of neutral and counter-charged atmospheric molecules and debris, increasing the sentinels already foreboding amount of armor with an enhanced resistance of 50% with out custom pilot tinkering/perks
Veteran notes
- "Make you wana-jump jump!": the sentinal CAN jump. make use of it under heavy fire to surprise opponents
- "help! help! I'm being oppressed": the Vars cannons are well designed for full auto, and with the absurd ammo capacity, you can lay down suppressing fire on multiple targets in a wide range of positions around your 'Mech. don't be afraid to pin someone down so a partner can run in and finish them off.
- Dragon-Force: while stock, the sentenal CAN roll straight through the Littlefoot's Lart Bomb, streetfighter's Patroclus Napalm Mine, Napalm missile launcher, flamers both from Fire Ant's Ant Flamer, Clan Flamer arm mount. at the same time, only receiving normal damage from those sources, with measly pings of 1-2 damage. adding a stomach mounted triple heat-sink is superfluous, but functional if one wishes to return fire while keeping a Strawberry daiquiri frosty in the cockpit
Trivia
The original release of the Sentinel 'Mech was poorly received by experienced pilots due to the original VARS cannon, producing a bullet which was too large for the scope of the caliber, even going so far as to collide with the other vars rounds or with the ground after being fired at level angle. or against blocking terrain. where the bullet itself could pass though normally.
The Sentinel Tank 'Mech is one of 2 tank tread leg type 'Mechs which can actually jump with out causing the overheat status, only incurring 85% heat per jump. when stock and pilot has not assigned any perks.
While the legs of the sentinel are equipped with pile driver spikes, they are not scripted to react with lock-down, and do not have animations or prims to show them anchoring the 'Mech to the ground
