Tracked assault vehicles have been a concept used since before humanity reached for the stars. Nothing, however, has taken it to the level of a Minotaur. Designed and built by the Smithson and Mark Guild of Engineers, the Minotaur uses massive tracks that give it a profile similar to an old World War I tank. The end result was a heap of armor and armaments piled on to a vehicle, well more then you would see on any conventional bipedal mech. History
These tracks allowed the design team to worry less about legs having to carry all that weight and extra equipment, not to mention it saved on weight that would have gone to actuators and a gyro. The end result was a heap of armor and armaments piled on to a vehicle, well more then you would see on any conventional bipedal mech. The tracked design also allowed the vehicle to handle the quad high-yield howitzer cannons that are mounted on the Minotaur. It was a terrifying vehicle when it first rolled out. Some even debated if it violated current war conventions. However all agree that there is nothing harder to crack with raw firepower than a Minotaur.
Description
The Minotaur is a massive tank with four howitzer cannons. The howitzers do not fire arched projectiles like others that bear its name. They fly straight forward on shot, explode on impact, have a fairly fast muzzle velocity, and enough range to hit the far side of the combat arena. The Minotaur has some rather broad resistances and a pile of armor. The Minotaur's one weakness however is its inability to jump. All in all it's a big massive pile of armor that can dish out a heap of pain.
Tactics
The UACs are difficult to focus fire with due to their broad fire origins. The howitzers, however, are very very good guns. If you swap them with Heavy PPCs you will add 2 more guns with similar fire characteristics to the howitzers. Get yourself heat sinks. Get yourself coolant, you're going to need it. If you are in an arena with an underground area, don't be afraid to flee down there if the enemy is giving you trouble above ground, close quarters are your friend. You resist melee like a son of a gun and you can afford to trade blows with just about anything.
Against a Minotaur do not try to go toe to toe with it. Be evasive. It is built to out-toe-to-toe every single mech in MCM. Nothing has better armor or resistances, and its guns hit like a truck filled with more trucks filled with guns. Be evasive, be like the wind. Its explosive rounds can't do splash damage easily if you are in the air where there's no solid objects to splash off of.
Trivia
The Minotaur was originally built to be a tank conversion of the Rhino mech. After some debate as to if the design was too different to be an allowed modification, it was decided that it would be adopted as its own design. This accounts for the similar weapons load out between the two.
