Harlequin Melee is a knockdown melee weapon that's included with the Harlequin.

History

Whatever changes go on inside a Trickster when it's turned into a Harlequin hinder the energy pathways that allow the Star Lances to function. Harlequin's as a result have rather slap-dash melee implements of oversized metal claws or rotating buzz-saws. The bio-matter that's worked into the harlequin's metal chassis actually acts as a nice shock-buffer, and extra mass is concentrated at the extremities of the limbs, allowing the harlequin to hit harder then it's Technological sister. It's not uncommon for a blow to knock a mech clean off its feet.

Use

Harlequin melee has a 180 degree hit arch. Just hit attack when you are in range. There's very little feed-back on if the weapon hit or not, but if you are tapping attack near a mech, you're hitting. If the attack does not hit any mech no energy is expended and it doesn't go into refire, allowing you to tap attack rapid fire until you hit something.

Other Notes

Be careful with Friendly fire with this weapon. It's easy to tag a friendly mech standing next to you if you left your melee on while taking ranged shots. Have a hotkey ready to flick melee and on and off. Remember, melee only consumes energy when it htis something, so expect your biomech to drain out its reserves much faster when you get into close combat, might be worthwhile to flick off a couple weapons if you are having energy problems when you get into melee.

The 180 degree arc lets you enact a death dance of running circles around your foe while flailing attack. Careful, some people can keep their head in the face of such an assault and level a nasty point blank beatdown. Also watch out for people with anti-melee shields.

The Lower arm portion of the model is purely window dressing. There's no script in it, it can be worn simultaneously with a lower arm mount such as a Single Bio Cell or a Personic Acid Cannon. The weapon script is in the upper arm. If you are replacing these weapons it's a good idea to make a copy of the upper arms, load the weapon scripts into them. Then make a scriptless copy of the weapon in question equip that on the lower arm so it's still clear what weapon your 'quin's packing. As with all modification jobs, run it by a moderator before fielding it.
